MEDIA MANIA: PepsiCo’s ‘Groundhog Lay’s’ utilized an innovative media buy with a sequence of ads that garnered 1.4 billion media impressions by running 8 spots 75 times on ABC, a media buy that represented one-third of Disney’ network inventory.
GUERRILLA SPOOF: WPP and Ogilvy NA social-first strategy [winning over Gen Z ‘ers] and a commitment to edutainment, featured Michael Cera as the mastermind behind L’Oreal skincare CeraVe brand. A weeklong guerrilla campaign launched across diverse media platforms culminating with the most effective Super Bowl campaign, achieving the Social and Influencer Grand Prix at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, and garnering over 32 billion earned impressions.
AI COLORS: Starburst dips it’s toe in the AI waters with their Different Every Time campaign using over 300 bespoke assets to depict the multitude of ways consumers enjoy the flavors. Snapchat and Spotify add a Gen Z friendly media plan showcasing the power of human creativity augmented by responsible use of AI.

PUSHING CREATIVITY ON PURPOSE
E.l.f. Beauty has launched a campaign titled “So Many Dicks” to advocate for increased diversity in U.S. corporate boardrooms. The campaign takes its name from a finding that there are 566 men named Richard, Rick or Dick on the boards of directors of U.S. based companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, compared to only 806 Black women, 774 Asian women and 283 Hispanic women amid nearly 37,000 board members.
E.l.f. worked with purpose-driven agency Oberland on the effort, part of their broader “Change the Board Game” initiative, which aims to double the rate of women and diverse members on corporate boards by 2027.
The campaign is visible on digital screens in transportation hubs around Wall Street. E.l.f. Beauty’s board is notably diverse, with two-thirds women and one-third diverse members, which the company links to its strong sales growth.
The campaign also ties into a partnership with the National Association of Corporate Boards to train and promote diverse board-ready candidates.

SAVING LIVES ON WHIDBEY
We’re proud to recognize the Rotary Club of Whidbey Westside for rolling out a major expansion of the Public Access Defibrillator program on Whidbey Island, Washington.
Sudden cardiac death is a major public health issue, causing hundreds of thousands of deaths in the U.S. each year. While those with known heart conditions are at higher risk, sudden cardiac arrest can strike anyone, even young and seemingly healthy individuals.
Early intervention is critical for survival. Widespread public access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are essential to improve outcomes. When bystanders quickly recognize cardiac arrest, call emergency services, start CPR, and use an AED if available, survival rates can double or triple compared to waiting for professional help to arrive.
This Rotary Club has received two grants from Rotary District 5050, as well as massive charitable giving from the public who are eager to support the project. Installation of 15 new AED’s will begin by the end of 2024 in what is expected to be the first wave of a long-term annual commitment.
