STEP 1: GET THEIR ATTENTION

Whether it’s through eye-catching visuals, arresting storytelling or  humor tapping into emotions can help create a strong connection to capture the audience’s attention.

  • A Compelling Headline – Create curiosity
  • Powerful On Brand Visuals – Invite them in
  • An Emotional Hook – Make them want you

 

STEP 2: BE CONCISE

Get to the point – and get there quickly, so they get it and remember it.

Industry jargon and piles of details are buzzkills.

  • WHAT? Tell them what you are offering. We get it, we can help, here’s how.
  • WHY? Answer the unasked question: “What’s in it for me [WIIFM]? – Be direct and communicate why they need what you have and why they should get it from you!

Our tech clients make complex systems – often impossible to explain in short statements. If what you are selling is complex, consider an explainer video or infographic to make it easier to understand how it works and why they want it.

STEP 3: PERSONALIZE

Don’t try to appeal to everyone. Focus your attention on the people you want to reach. Think through what they care about – and build  a story that resonates and motivates them to act.

 

STEP 4:  UNLEASH THE UNEXPECTED

Dust off your copy of ‘Buzz Marketing’ and consider:

The outrageous. The hilarious. The Taboo. Or my personal favorite: The “I’ve Got a Secret” tactic.  Think outside the box –interactive, viral, guerilla. Word-of-mouth remains the most powerful marketing tool in the industry, so get people talking about your stuff.

 

STEP 5: LIMIT CHOICES

Research shows the average person can only remember 3 things at a time, so offer a limited selection ’Calls to Action.’ Ten-digit phone numbers can be tough to remember unless you can get 888-888-8888. (You can’t.) QR codes, clever email aliases (splash@lionfishcreative.com) and custom URL’s are good ideas.
