THE BUSINESS OBJECTIVE

 

When the Edmonds Seniors decided to transform their senior center into a multi-generational community center, they needed help with their fundraising efforts, generating regional support and demand for the new state of the art community center.  Their vision was to create a cultural hub, providing educational, health and wellness, programs, recreational activities and diverse cultural experiences.

 

The Strategy

The challenge started with a name that captured the vision and resonated with diverse audiences. The creation of a brand and a plan to introduce the new community center to Edmonds and the Pacific Northwest was next. It was important to include multi-generational and culturally diverse members of the community in the process including first nations participants to ensure everyone had a voice.

The Tactics

As always, we started with WHY?  Why create a community center vs a facility for the seniors? Why now? Our 360⁰ research included a look at the competitive landscape, how it will differ from other facilities, and defining the experience.

Creating a name, brand strategy, messaging/positioning and a unique brand/visual identity. It was important to reflected the cultural diversity, the inspiring facility location, and the overall NW experience.

Multigenerational elements were included in the brand, facility environment and marketing materials. Resources including collateral, marketing materials and a new website were created to support the fundraising efforts needed to raise the $16.35M  for construction.

The Results: Something for everyone

The campaign successfully raised $16.42M as community excitement built for opening, which was delayed due to COVID-19. The new website offered online thrift store shopping, plus events, program and menu details. Revenue from venue rentals, and the Shore Pine and Senior Cafe along with programming, events and fundraising continue to garner community engagement and support.
